She popped into the 'Gateway Hospital Broadcasting Service' studios to speak to Terry Cleaver (in orange),
Friday night presenter of 'Terry's All Gold Show' on Friday 1st September 2006. The images on this page are from that evening.
Kirsty’s debut CD album ‘JUST’, recently released.
As a new
and worthy solo artist from the south east of England, Kirsty has been working hard to record her debut album entitled
JUST
The finishing touches are
being added to the material, which is due for release imminently on the independent, ‘Drawn Horse’, record label.
Recorded at ‘Woodenhouse
Recording Studio’ in Kent, the album comprises ten tracks, most of which were composed specifically for Kirsty by Jon
Everett & Ray Terry. The exception being one track, ‘Face To
Face’, written by Jon and pianist Paul Barnes several years ago.
Paul was invited to perform
‘Face To Face’, of course, and later he applied keyboard backing to other tracks.
Thanks Paul!
Being a ‘ballads’
album, the songs are relatively simple constructs that allow the freshness and clarity of Kirsty’s vocal into the fore. Her skilful, sensitive expression is captivating!
Kirsty’s singing career
was officially launched when, at the age of fifteen, she made a ‘demo’ recording in the studio of Kent based band
‘Prophets of Pop’. Despite her age at the time, her vocal skill was
impressive.
Further coaching culminated
in her debut performance as backing vocalist with the band at the launch of their ‘In The Rain’ CD album in March
2005.
Since then Kirsty has performed in the studio for them, providing backing vocals for another project.
Jon and Ray have established a strong and fruitful song-writing partnership based on the combined
experience of their varied musical backgrounds. They have worked hard to ensure
that the material and performances for Kirsty’s debut album compliment her vocal style.
Please enjoy!
Review by Terry Cleaver
Kirsty was born in Dover's
Buckland Hospital, she attended Dover Grammar School for Girls and now is studying Geography at Manchester University. She
currently resides in Hawkinge and grew up listening to the likes of Phil Collins but plays particular attention to chart music
but says she aspires to be 'something that little bit different'.
Kirsty's unique voice and
musical talent come across in the collective of songs for her album entititled Just. It has a folk like quality, something
not originally intended but this makes her stand out from all the other music currently out there. The production and musical
scores of this album add to the quality and diversity of music being able to transport you to magical places through her musical
style being combined with the uplifting musical scores. This is especially apparent on the album track 'Butterfly' which brings
the visions of a butterfly to life in your mind through the use of instrumental pieces.
